Skycouch Launches with Air New Zealand
This week our New Zealander from the Marketing team, Courtney, keeps us up to speed with Air New Zealand’s exciting developments…
Picture being stretched out, cosy and actually at ease in Economy … with Air New Zealand’s innovative new “Skycouch”.
We let you know in February that “Skycouch” was being introduced in Economy on flights from Auckland to Los Angeles in December 2010, but are soon to be available on selected London (via Los Angeles) routes. Have it anyway you want it – whether you’re a couple wanting to cuddle down for some rest, or a parent with young ones, “Skycouch” creates a flexible space formed of 3 seats.
Gone are the days with awkward arm rests and gaps between seats; now you can lie flat or pull your knees and feet up for greater comfort. You can adjust your winged headrest, pop your glass of Award-winning New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc in the cup holder while enjoying your evening meal in style. Economy never felt so good!

In other Air New Zealand news…the high energy, diverse flight crew are back spinning a new twist on the safety briefing – this time with a little more clothing than in the previous safety video but beware of the spandex!
The team have enlisted the help of fitness extraordinaire Richard Simmons to lead the 80’s exercise-themed briefing; imagine bright colours, choreographed dance moves mixed with sensible tips for aircraft safety.
This perky revival of an often dull airline procedure will likely get everyone onboard stowing their tray table safely away and being well aware of the emergency exit closest to them. View the new video here.
